Elderly dog owner trespasses daily into neighbor's yard, even after being told she's not allowed, forcing neighbor to take decisive action: 'I warned her once, she never listened'

Would you be able to live with yourself if you let your dog do their business on somebody else's lawn… every day?

You can train a dog to do a lot of things, but you can't train them where to use the toilet. In this specific thing, they're very particular about their choices. And it's not one that you'll ever understand - why this inch of grass is better than the one 3 feet away, but they're perfectly sure why. We aren't going to lie, our dogs have done their business in some sketchy places that we're not proud of. In front of coffee shops, on the occasional car tire, and more fire hydrants than we can count, but never on someone else's property.

We know what it's like to have a very picky (and stubborn) dog. When they want to do something, they'll argue with you until you're out of patience to get you to do what they want to do, even if that means using someone else's yard for their relief station. They may not understand the difference between one yard and the next, but you do! And you're the owner - it's your job to teach them the rules of the human world you brought them into. This is a responsibility you signed up for when you brought them into your home.

After repeatedly trespassing onto her neighbor's yard to let her dog do its business, they got fed up. Even after the "no dogs allowed" sign, even after the warnings, she still came over daily to disrespect this neighbor's property with her doggo. Well, you can only give out so many warnings before you start to take action.

As someone who grew up in Northern VA, we have to wholeheartedly disagree with this person. We never had any issues with the police in our area, but they always showed up when it was necessary. But, honestly, what are they supposed to do about a neighbor coming into your yard? Perform a stakeout to catch them in the act? Plan a sting operation? Leave a squad car there to prevent her from entering your yard? Be realistic.

If she didn't respond to being yelled at, there's no way she's going to respond to a tiny “dogs are prohibited” sign. Plus, these kinds of dog owners think their dogs have the right to go wherever they want, sign or no sign.
